Closet Staples: Camel Trench Coat

When I think about closet staples, you know, the things that every girl should own or at least be striving to add to her closet, "The Camel Trench Coat" is on this list. If you never thought you needed one, think again. It is one of my favorite items and is so timeless that you'll find yourself wearing it every year, no matter what's trending in fashion.

My trench coat is actually a vintage piece I scored from my mother, talk about timeless. It's J. Gallery and the details this coat possesses are enough for any vintage enthusiast to awe over. I remember seeing the coat for the first time and instantly falling in love. I batted my eye lashes, smiled at my mom and said, "Please?" I mean c'mon, we all know it would have found its way into my closet one way or another.

Transitioning from winter into spring can be a challenge, especially in Colorado when the weather can change from 65 and sunny to snowing in a matter of hours (I know my Iowans understand this too). This outfit is comfortable for that awkward in-between weather. I paired the coat with a classic boyfriend jean, a slump knit tank and a plush sweater.

The sweater has a cowl neck and shorter flowly sleeves, making it comfortable for warm to cool temperatures. I wore a longer slump knit tank underneath this sweater for two reasons...

 1. I love layering and it pulls the outfit together for a casual day look.
 2. Why do all boyfriend jeans make your crotch awkward?

I have yet to find a pair that I didn't sometimes question wearing due to the crotch situation. It is either too baggy and looks more masculine than you were going for or it's too high and camel-toe city begins to happen and you're the mayor.

I am a huge fan of wearing pumps with boyfriends or any jean for that matter. I think it instantly elevates an outfit. Here, I think they make a soft classic statement. Check the outfit details below! I left some links of trench coats I love that are similar to my J. Gallery!

Happy Hunting Babes!
