Holiday Sips: Spiked Spiced Cider

Once December hits I am in full on Holiday mode.  I break out the snowman onesie PJs,  turn on the Christmas tunes, and DECORATE! I just love it. This year we made it a little more festive and brewed up a little holiday cocktail.  This cocktail is perfect for large gatherings [ugly sweater party, I'm looking at you] and is a great set-it-and-forget-it recipe.
It's practically Christmas in a cup.

The goods.
Add brown sugar into a medium sized crockpot.
Pour in the cider and mix until the brown sugar has dissolved.
Add a teaspoon of allspice.
Toss 'em in.
Next up - cloves!
Toss those babies in too!
Note: some people recommend putting all of the spices in cheesecloth and tying it into a tiny ball.  I would definitely suggest it.  It was a little difficult getting cider into the glass without scooping up little bits of clove and allspice.
And finally, the cinnamon sticks.
Slice up an orange and layer the top of the cider.
Add some apple slices.
Turn the crockpot on low for 2-3 hours, crank up the Mariah Carey holiday tunes, and let it brew.

Not only is the drink warm and delicious, but it also smells ahhhmazing while cooking!

Now for the rum! Pick whatever spiced rum you prefer.
Add a splash [or two].

Garnish with a cinnamon stick and enjoy!

2 Quarts of Apple Cider
1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon of cloves
1 Teaspoon of Allspice
3-4 Cinnamon Sticks
1 Orange - sliced
1 Apple - sliced
